Ignacio Porras is Professor of Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics at the University of Granada (Spain) and an internationally recognized researcher in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT).
He founded the first multidisciplinary BNCT research group in Spain, integrating physicists, radiobiologists and clinicians to advance accelerator-based BNCT for cancer therapy. His research focuses on neutron sources, dosimetry and translational approaches for clinical implementation of BNCT. Prof. Porras served as President of the International Society for Neutron Capture Therapy (ISNCT) from 2018 to 2024 and currently serves as Vice-President.
He has carried out research at major neutron facilities including CERN, the Institute Laue-Langevin and ISIS. He currently leads the NeMeSis project, which aims to develop an accelerator-based BNCT facility at the University Hospital Virgen de las Nieves in Granada.
