I am a solid-state physicist with a PhD in Crystallography from the University of La Laguna (Spain). My career has evolved at the interface of crystallography, neutron scattering, and molecular magnetism, with extensive experience at large-scale facilities, particularly the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL), where I have been instrument responsible for the D19 and CYCLOPS single crystal diffractometers, and am currently Instrument Responsible of D20 powder diffractometer.
My recent research is strongly centered on neutron scattering as a primary tool to investigate multifunctional magnetic molecular materials. I focus on the determination and analysis of complex magnetic structures, especially incommensurate and modulated phases, where neutron diffraction provides unique sensitivity to magnetic ordering and light elements. By exploiting high-resolution powder and single-crystal neutron instruments, I develop and apply advanced crystallographic methodologies to resolve subtle structural and magnetic features that are inaccessible by other techniques. This work is conducted independently and through close international collaborations, consolidating my leadership in neutron-based crystallography.
In parallel, I contribute to scientific evaluation, training, and international collaborations, promoting the use of neutron scattering in crystallography and magnetic materials research.
